Kauai Breweries: Kauai Island Brewing Company
Kauai Island Brewing Company has a lot to offer. They have a good-sized lanai where you can enjoy brews and much more! Their menu features seafood, sandwiches, and salads. So whether you want a snack alongside your beers or a full blown meal Kauai Island Brewing is a great spot to check out.
Even if beer isn’t your thing (gasp!) but hey, I get it not everyone wants to drink local beers everywhere they go like I do! Kauai Island Brewing Company in addition to beer offers cocktails, ciders, wine, and nonalcoholic drinks as well.
This brewery is perfect for the whole family! If the weather isn’t great there are games such as darts and pinball machines within the game room. Kauai Island Brewery happy hour is a draw for the adults!
Kauai Island Brewing Company has deep roots in Kauai beer. Originally they started as Waimea Brewing Company Kauai in the town of Waimea. Today, Kauai Island Brewing Company has two different locations in Port Allen and Koloa Town.
Due to its location on the western side of the island of Kauai, it’s the perfect spot for a bite and some libations after a local boat tour. While we were on Kauai, our boat tour was one of my top three things we did! It was an amazing day. Read more about our full Kauai itinerary and activities in my One week in Kauai Guide.
Kauai Breweries: NaPali Brewing Company
Honestly, we stumbled upon NaPali Brewing Company. Located in Wailua just north of Lihue on the eastern side of the Garden Isle of Kauai. The location is close to the East Trailhead of Sleeping Giant. (Hello post hike beers!)
It has a very unique vibe. Beers are German styles, but the aesthetic inside is one hundred percent island vibes. While visiting, we ate lunch here and honestly, I dream about the poke ahi caesar salad I had here. It was SOOOO good! So whether you want to belly up to the bar and just enjoy a brew or two or grab a light bite, NaPali is a great beer (and food) destination to do just that!
Kauai Breweries: Kauai Beer Company
Kauai Beer Company’s location in Lihue makes it an easy stop when picking up groceries, or as a first stop once touching down on the Garden Isle. Make a stop at this local brewpub focused on small batch production of their local craft beer. Offering a wide selection of their very own house beers you’re sure to find something to sip on.
With indoor and outdoor seating, and a robust menu to have a meal alongside your beers, you can’t go wrong. In addition to offering a wide range of different beer styles (from IPA’s, barleywine, porters, & German styles) they also have wine, cocktails, and nonalcoholic beverages available.
Beyond Kauai beer: Nani Moon Meadery
Beyond beer on Kauai, there is also a meadery. Mead is an alcoholic beverage that is made with honey, water, and yeast. So it’s a much sweeter drink.
Nani Moon Meadery on Kauai is located on the eastern side of the island in Kapaa near Wailua. It’s the only meadery located among the islands of Hawaii. If you plan a visit, walk-ins are accepted but reservations are encouraged!
Beyond Kauai beer: Distilleries
Beyond just beer, island and tropical cocktails may be what you think of when in a tropical paradise such as Kauai. There are some spots you can also explore while spending time in Kauai.
Do a tasting of Koloa Rum at Kalamaku Plantation in Lihue, Kauai. Koloa was the first distillery on the island of Kauai. Even if you aren’t a huge fan of rum, there are so many different fun flavor variations in their collection such as coffee, and cacao, as well as much more traditional styles of coconut, dark rum, and white rum.
The Rum Tasting hours are from 10 AM-4 PM and you must make a reservation in advance. Tastings are offered Monday-Saturday and they are not open on Sundays. Each day, there is a different lineup of flavors to taste. So plan ahead if you want a little sip of a specific flavor. There are additional rums offered in the store right next door that you can purchase to try later or bring home with you.
You will find this vodka in liquor stores and grocery stores across Kauai. Hanalei spirits have a few different experiences you can book and participate in while visiting Kauai. One is 45 mins and the more in-depth tour lasts 90 minutes.
You can visit the distillery located in the northern part of Kauai and tour the distillery, and farm, as well as sample some of the vodkas and rums produced there.

Conclusion: Kauai Breweries
While visiting this beautiful island, grab a pint (or two) at one of the breweries across the island. Even if you’re visiting with family, you can easily bring everyone along as most breweries offer something for everyone.
My personal favorite was Kauai Beer Company in Lihue but NaPali Brewing Company was absolutely beautiful with delicious food (but at the time we were there the beer selections were somewhat limited.) Kauai Island Brewing Company, being the westernmost brewery located in the United States deserves a stop as well. (Conveniently located in the area of Kauai where many boat tours depart and arrive from.)
Beyond Kauai breweries, Oahu has a lot more breweries to explore. If you’re visiting multiple islands do not sleep on Oahu Breweries as well! (We visited almost all of them on the island of Oahu while there!) Check out my Oahu Beer Guide.
Beyond Kauai, Hawaii, and beer travel in this beautiful tropical Oasis, I always seek to drink local (wherever I am!) I have much more information on great breweries, brew pubs, and spots to eat and drink all over the world.
